We are again into the month of Ramadhan. What I find most compelling is that this is one month where there is plenty of everything. Plenty of food everywhere for a start. There is of course Param (Pasar Ramadhan), Baram (Bazar Ramadhan) and for the elites there is the endless Ramadhan buffets in 5 star hotels. Then there is the endless tazkirahs, from lunch to after terawihs. Of course there is the terawikhs in various suraus and masjids. Everyone has a favourite place to go to. Finally Ramadhan is a month of plenty for sedekahs and time to make plenty of pahala.
Our prayers and doas are given special emphasis in this holy month. The more we revel in prayers and doas, the more we look deeper into our souls, the greater the impact of Ramadhan. I have to add that my fervent doa has been answered this year on the 8th day of Ramadhan. I have always wished for my son Muhammad Haziman to enter university. Today he begins life as an undergraduate student reading Pharmacy at Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS). He has studied hard to get through foundation and I am always there to cheer him all the way. My doas for him.
With all the plenty that we have let us not forget the hungry children in Somalia. Let us just eat according to our needs and not our desires. Let us practice compassion and patience when dealing with others in our work place and in our daily life. Smile more and complain less.
Last but not least let us show thanks to Allah SWT for blessing us with the most precious gift. The gift of life. We are truly blessed to be alive and the best way we can show our thanks to Him is by being present each moment. Let our presence in this world be the connector to other plenties. More knowledge to our students, more money for the poor and more love to everyone around us.
Ramadhan is certainly the month of plenty. Syukur Ya Allah for showing me the way. May You guide me and Muhammad Haziman always. Amin.
