Yesterday we received sad news on the passing of a great academician, Prof. Dr. Khalijah Mohd Salleh. She was my mentor, my friend and a sister all in one. She gave me guidance during my initial stint as a young lecturer. Always there urging me on to reach for the stars of academia and at the same time reminded me of my true purpose in life ie to serve Allah SWT.
I will always remember Khalijah as a fighter never yielding to the pressures of politics of academia. She lead all of us young women in academia then how to "fight' injustice by men. Remembered how she spoke her mind during Faculty meetings and her ideas initially might be brushed aside but she persisted and cajoled and slowly changed the mindset of even the hardcore. She triumphed in getting her good ideas implemented. Looking back, I used her methods to influence my colleagues to accept my ides.
Arwah Khalijah, thank you so much for your guidance. May you be among the chosen people in heaven. I will miss you terribly.

Good people die first leaving the bad one with long life. A chance allah swt give for repent but many stick to old habit till they die.
