It was just last year during Ramadhan that a group of us from Facebook decided to meet and discuss what we could do as the silent majority to address extremism. We thought hard and came up with the name Voices of Peace, Conscience and Reason and we decided on PCORE for short. Our main role is to promote unity at the individual, community and organisational level.

It has just been over a year and we are moving. Four months ago we have become a registered citizen movement association with the ROS. We are mobilising our team members. Three months ago Zuriati and I had the opportunity to represent PCORE to attend a workshop conducted by Majlis Profesor Negara on the design of housing areas.

It was interesting to see the factors that played a role in ensuring integration and peace towards the design of housing areas. For example, how lack of parking bays can create tension and frictions.

However, besides the work we in PCORE enjoy a close and warm relationship with each other. We support each other emotionally and spiritually too.

Many were asking me about my new look during PCORE's recent meeting and Hari Raya gathering in Datin Halimah's place in Damansara Heights. I just smiled and said "Time to cover up again". Perhaps many did not realise that I once covered my hair but took it off during difficult times. Some went like "Yang, so where are all your sexy outfits?" to which I replied "Yes I still have them". Peter (husband to Farida) was upset that I should cover my hair. He reckons I look younger without my tudung. And the debate went on and on.

However, my friend Datuk Atikah was very understanding and hugged me tight and wished me luck.

As Ibrahim my good friend and next door neighbour in the office would say "Nina you look so different now". Whatever the feedback, what I do know is that I have found peace and contentment within my inner self.

Syukur Ya Allah kerana melimpahkan rahmat dan rezeki Mu kepada insan yang kerdil ini. InsyAllah niat dan hati yang suci akan membawa ku kepada Mu.

Now that was my inner voices of peace, conscience and reasons talking. A pure and big heart will overcome obstacles along the way. Amin.
